The Early Birds rocked out at the Capitol and even invited me to join them on stage. They played everything from Stevie Wonder to Ohio Players at The California Disability Employment Awareness Fair. The slogan ‘’America’s Workforce :Empowering All’’ set the tone perfectly for what turned out to be a very empowering event.
As the spokeswoman for ADAPTS, I joined the ADAPTS team at our booth and came up with a game plan. While Robin the founder, and her cousins demonstrated the ADAPTS evacuation sling at our booth, I made my way around to each vendor to give away ADAPTS luggage tags and tell them about the Ms. Wheelchair California Leadership Institute. We took pictures with fans and the CHP.
Thank you to the California Highway Patrol and Officer Rombouts for making today’s event so special. We sang, we danced, we advocated on behalf of the disability community for adequate escape options in case of emergency…whew!
